The goal isn’t to live a life without fear, it’s to stop letting fear make all the decisions

We humans are fascinating creatures.

We will happily climb mountains, run marathons, build businesses, raise families and solve incredibly complicated problems… but ask us to make a phone call we’re nervous about and suddenly that phone becomes the most intimidating object in the house.

Strange, isn’t it?

Avoidance is one of the great talents of the human brain. And by “talent,” I mean something we’ve all become remarkably good at through repetition.

Need to start exercising? Perfect time to reorganise the kitchen cupboards.

Want to apply for a new job? Probably best to spend another few weeks researching the company, updating the resume, choosing the perfect font, and perhaps learning a new language just in case.

Thinking about having an important conversation? No rush. There’s always tomorrow.

And tomorrow is an incredibly popular place. It’s where we store our unfinished goals, abandoned dreams and all those things we’ll “get around to eventually.”

The funny thing is, most people know exactly what they are avoiding. They can feel the hesitation. They recognise the little voice saying, “Maybe don’t do that yet”.

That voice often sounds sensible. It sounds like caution. It sounds like good decision-making.

But sometimes it’s simply fear wearing a very convincing disguise.

The serious side of avoidance is that it can slowly shrink our world. Opportunities are missed, confidence fades and the things we want most remain just outside our comfort zone.

As a qualified hypnotherapist, I understand that these patterns are rarely about laziness or a lack of motivation. Often, the mind is simply trying to protect someone using old strategies that are no longer helpful.

Hypnosis can help uncover and change those deeper patterns, allowing people to respond differently to the fears that have been holding them back.

Because the goal isn’t to live a life without fear. The goal is to stop letting fear make all the decisions.

So, if there’s something you’ve been avoiding, delaying, or telling yourself you’ll do “one day”, perhaps it’s time to explore what’s really keeping you stuck?

Your comfort zone is a lovely place to visit. Just don’t let it become your permanent address.

If you’re looking to move forward but old habits are holding your back, perhaps it’s time to make a small step forward and have a conversation with me. Together, we could shape a new future.
