You’re not broken, you just need a different approach

Are you someone who has turned a struggle into an identity?

“I’m lazy.”

“I’ve always been anxious.”

“I’m terrible at making decisions.”

“I’m just not a confident person.”

Many of us take something we’re experiencing and turn it into a statement about who we are.

But if a plant wasn’t growing properly, you wouldn’t stand there and call the plant a failure. You’d look at the conditions. Does it need more sunlight? Better soil? More water? Less water? You’d change the environment before blaming the plant.

Yet when we struggle, we often do the opposite. We turn on ourselves. We tell ourselves we’re weak, broken, incapable or somehow not enough.

The truth is, most people aren’t broken.

They’ve simply developed patterns, beliefs and coping strategies that made sense at some point in their lives but may no longer be serving them.

Your mind is built to learn. It creates shortcuts from your experiences. Some of those shortcuts help you move through life with confidence and ease. Others can keep you stuck in the same reactions, behaviours and thought patterns long after the original problem has passed.

Maybe you’ve tried to beat anxiety by telling yourself to stop worrying.

Maybe you’ve tried to build confidence by pretending to be confident.

Maybe you’ve relied on willpower, motivation, positive thinking, discipline or every self-help strategy you could find.

And yet, something still isn’t shifting. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

It may simply mean you’ve been trying to solve the problem at the wrong level.

As a qualified hypnotherapist, I work with the understanding that many of our thoughts, emotions and behaviours are influenced by patterns operating beneath our conscious awareness.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to push harder, it’s to understand what’s actually driving the pattern and work with your mind differently.

Hypnosis can help you explore those deeper patterns and begin developing new responses, new perspectives and new ways of approaching life.

The goal isn’t to turn you into someone you’re not.

It’s to remove the things that have been getting in the way of who you already are.

If you’ve been telling yourself that something is wrong with you, maybe it’s time to ask a better question: “What if I’m not broken? What if I simply haven’t found the right way forward yet?”
